Who is the Blackhawks captain this year? No one

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 09:02:15 GMT

CHICAGO — In one sense, the Blackhawks will not have a replacement for Jonathan Toews during the 2023-2024 season. On Tuesday morning, general manager Kyle Davidson announced that the team will not have a captain for the upcoming campaign as they continue their lengthy rebuild. Instead, the Blackhawks will have a rotation of alternate captains over the course of the preseason and 82-game regular season."The only plan right now is to sort of just let it breathe for a year. We came off such a successful tenure with Jonathan," said Davidson of the decision not to name a captain. "A little bit of it is just out of respect to Jonathan, to not fill that spot right away, and the other part is not to put that pressure on someone else when you're coming out of a period of such greatness. Blackhawks’ 2023 training camp includes a minor change for fans "You want the next person to be in a position to succeed, and there's no requirement to have a captain. We just felt that it was best to leav...

What is Gophers coach P.J. Fleck’s new tattoo? And why it means so much to him

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 09:02:15 GMT

The Gophers offense didn’t reveal much during a few open practices in training camp, but if you were able to look close enough in those brief August moments, P.J. Fleck shared something special to him. When the head coach wore shorts, his usual summer practice attire, it exposed a new tattoo on one of his tanned, athletically toned calves. Vertical ink running downward to his Achilles tendon now reads: “This too shall pass.”The famous phrase has been attributed to the Bible, and while faith is intertwined in its meaning, those words are not written there in that way. One popular claim is to an ancient Jewish folktale, and President Abraham Lincoln was a fan of the saying, via that origin story.“It is said an Eastern monarch (King Solomon) once charged his wise men to invent him a sentence, to be ever in view, and which should be true and appropriate in all times and situations,” Lincoln said in closing a speech in Wisconsin in 1859. “They presented him the words: ‘And this, too, shal...
