SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Widespread rain that arrived in the Bay Area Monday has continued into Tuesday, soaking the morning commute and leading to another day of flight delays at SFO. Scattered showers are expected to continue through this evening with additional bands of widespread rain expected Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Bay Area rain totals: Storm expected to hit in waves "Keep those umbrellas handy!" advised KRON4 Meteorologist Kyla Grogan. "We have more showers expected through this evening and overnight. Tuesday will be another unsettled day, but our showers will be far less intense. Wednesday I expect another robust round of rain to come our way as the second low pressure system moves in. There is still a bit of uncertainty of the track of the Wednesday system. If it stays offshore a bit more than projected we will see lower rain totals. BRUSSELS (AP) — Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois won’t be able to play at the European Championship next year because of the long-term knee injury that has sidelined him since the start of the season, he said Tuesday. His absence could last even longer, though, amid ongoing tensions between Courtois and national team coach Domenico Tedesco. Courtois said in an interview with Belgian broadcaster Sporza that he will not recover from surgery to repair the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in time for him to play at the tournament. Restoration efforts continued on the South Shore Tuesday, one day after the region was hit hard by Monday’s major storm. Ramping up overnight into Monday morning, powerful wind gusts sent debris flying, knocking down trees and leaving nearly all residents in Scituate in the dark. As of around 12 p.m. Tuesday, 92% of Scituate energy customers were still without power, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. Sixty-seven percent of customers in Norwell were impacted, while more than 50% of customers in Hanson, Pembroke and Duxbury were in the dark. National Grid said it brought in crews from New York and Canada. Crews were then visible around town Tuesday making repairs.
