Police in Fontana are asking residents to be extra vigilant in light of an increase in “bank jugging.” According to the Fontana Police Department, “bank jugging” is when thieves observe victims withdraw money and wait for them to get to a second location before robbing them. “In this type of crime, suspects observe victims as they leave a bank, credit union, ATM or check-cashing facility visibly holding cash, and proceed to follow them to their next destination,” Fontana PD said on Instagram. “Upon arriving, the criminals seize the chance to either burglarize the victim’s vehicle or commit robbery directly.”  Nanny hides with baby during attempted burglary Authorities referenced one specific case of "bank jugging" that took place on July 22, where a victim who had just withdrawn $1,060 from a Chase Bank branch on Slover Avenue in Fontana had their money stolen from their car after they had left the bank."[After leaving the bank, the victim] drove to Walgreens on Sierra Avenue and ...

Review: Amazing lineup of legendary talent delights Bay Area hip-hop fans

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 14:20:50 GMT

It was like pages from the hip hop history book came alive right before our eyes at the Chase Center in San Francisco.More than a half dozen legends of the game performed as the F.O.R.C.E. Live Tour unfolded over the course of some 3 hours on Friday night. On paper, F.O.R.C.E. (which stands for Frequencies of Real Creative Energy) indeed looked like it was the best of the package tours making the rounds this year in honor of the 50th anniversary of hip Hop. And the lineup certainly did not disappoint, as it offered up headliner LL Cool J, the indefatigable Roots, always amazing Salt-N-Pepa and other historically significant acts who are still able to rock the house in 2023.The concert was an absolute blast for longtime hip-hop fans, who got the chance to a steady stream of greats take the stage with really no breaks in the action. The Roots set up shop first and then played house band basically the rest of the evening, setting the table for each new MC to take the stage.Of course, th...

Haaland nets hat trick as Man City beats Fulham after disputed first-half goal

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Erling Haaland scored a second-half hat trick as Manchester City extended its perfect start to the English Premier League with a 5-1 home victory over Fulham on Saturday. Two days after being named UEFA player of the year, Haaland’s treble helped City pull away from a Fulham team that drew at Arsenal last weekend and knocked Tottenham out of the League Cup in midweek.City took a first-half lead through Julian Alvarez before Tim Ream equalized for Fulham. The game then turned on a disputed goal for the hosts just before halftime that had Fulham fuming as it left the field for the break.Nathan Ake’s headed goal was allowed to stand even though Manuel Akanji stood in an offside position and in goalkeeper Bernd Leno’s field of vision as he jumped over the ball. City, and notably Haaland, made that goal less of a talking point with a dominant display after the break to secure another win for absent manager Pep Guardiola, who continues to recupe...

Elanga goal gives Nottingham Forest away win at big-spending Chelsea in EPL

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 14:20:50 GMT

LONDON (AP) — Anthony Elanga came off the bench to score the only goal of the game as Nottingham Forest stunned big-spending Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in the English Premier League on Saturday. The Blues stuck with the same side that beat Luton in the previous round but looked toothless in attack even after Elanga’s strike early in the second half. Despite spending more than $500 million on nine new signings, Mauricio Pochettino has made just two changes to his starting lineup in four Premier League games — and they have won only one of them.It was club-record signing Moises Caicedo who was at fault for Elanga’s goal, while Cole Palmer could not make an impact after coming off the bench for his debut a day after completing his move from Manchester City. Raheem Sterling was the liveliest spark in Chelsea’s attack during a forgettable first half, while the visitors were forced into a change in first-half stoppage time after Danilo limped off from chasing a ball over the top....
