DENVER (KDVR) — Even with a value of $1.37 billion, a $40-$50 million rights fee hit will take a toll on the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies are part of AT&T SportsNet, and as of early this year, the broadcaster announced its intention to get out of the regional sports network business."It's a big chunk of their revenue," said Kurt Badenhausen, Sportico’s sports valuations reporter. "It just disappeared." Rockies roll out new eats on eve of home opener According to Sportico, the Rockies’ valuation for 2023 has dropped by 4%, or about $55 million. Now, it's a value that will be eventually recuperated, but replacing the revenue stream will take time."They're not going to be able to replace it in the short term," Badenhausen said. "These clubs are going to take a haircut because what has happened in the current RSN (regional sports network) model. You have a lot of people who don't watch Rockies games who are paying the cable operators to support these large media rights deals. Once...

Happy Friday, South Florida!Hopefully everyone had a nice week.  And what a week it was!  South Florida got to enjoy beautiful blues skies, breezy East winds and low rain chances all week.  And today was no different.  We ended the week with possibly the nicest day as we saw fewer clouds and sunny skies all day long.  This evening is looking rather quiet as well so it’s a green light for any outdoor plans you might have tonight!  While a passing shower or two can’t be ruled out overnight tonight, rain chances should still remain low until later in the weekend. While we are on topic, let’s talk about this weekend as there will be some changes already underway. As it stands, Saturday seems to be the better of the two weekend days as only isolated showers will remain in the forecast. ‘History mystery’ surrounds bed possibly connected to trial of Lizzie Borden

Published Thu, 20 Feb 2025 19:24:12 GMT

Local authorities and members of the Fall River Historical Society are working to learn more as questions surround a more than century-old bed that Lizzie Borden may have slept in while on trial in the 1892 Fall River ax murders of her father and stepmother. The bed has spent years in storage at the Ash Street Jail in New Bedford. It doesn’t have a manufacture date or serial number. But it does have a clue for historians, according to Jonathan Darling of the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office. “There’s this very unusual marking on the side that looks kind of like a face, or maybe a backward state of Massachusetts,” Darling said. Darling said there is a theory that the manufacturer could have used the marking as a trademark in place of their company name. The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office discussed the mystery in a message on social media earlier this week after officials said they hosted personnel from the Fall River Historical Society to see the bed.&...

Bryan Baker threw a 96 mph by Isiah Kiner-Falefa and unleashed a roar in chorus with the 45,017 raucous fans at a sold-out Camden Yards. The strikeout ended the eighth inning with the potential tying run at third base, and Baltimore closer Félix Bautista repeated the feat in the ninth as the Orioles held on to beat the New York Yankees, 7-6, in their first home game of the season. The Orioles had already lost a 4-0 lead and were on the verge of letting a 7-5 advantage slip away when Baker entered with two on, no outs and a run already in. The first batter he faced, Jose Trevino, tried to bunt those runners over, but when Baker’s first two pitches missed the strike zone, Trevino swung away. Gold Glove third baseman Ramón Urías, who doubled in the go-ahead run and scored what proved to be the game-winner in the seventh, snared a 105.4 mph ground ball to start a double play. Baker’s strikeout of Kiner-Falefa came with Oriole Park’s crowd on its feet and e...
